Workshops & Adventures

As well as working as an advertising and landscape photographer, I am also an ambassador for ALPA cameras, and very much enjoy leading workshops and masterclasses for the the ALPA Academy and other workshop companies, such as The Knoydart Retreat, Better Moments and Santa Fe Workshops.

I also run tours, workshops and masterclasses directly, for one-to-one, couples and small group clients.

As well as being known as a landscape photographer, I’m also an experienced advertising photographer. I’ve run my own studio since 1988.

In contrast to this complex and sometimes hectic side of my work life, I have deliberately pursued what I consider to be a very simple approach to my landscape photography.

It is this contrast that I believe gives me a unique perspective when it comes to approaching and teaching photography, and sharing my varied experiences and work practises.

In my approach to teaching I discuss the art, craft, process and mindset of (landscape) photography, and touch on many important topics...

Post production, image workflow & the importance of printing

The early years of my career were spent in the traditional wet darkroom, I loved printing. This in turn has helped me to craft a film like post production style and approach.

Printing, post production and workflow is something that I am often asked about, and so I always make it a topic of discussion when on a workshop.

I have always preferred to work with small groups. This approach provides a far more focused, intimate and memorable experience.

Participants benefit greatly by having more quality time with me and more physical space with which to work in the landscape. It’s simply better for everyone.

When time and schedules allow, I also teach on a one-to-one basis.

Learning needs and experience vary, so if you decide to join me on a workshop or masterclass then I will always discuss beforehand exactly what you’d like to gain from the experience.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I am also a keynote speaker and give talks to schools, universities, camera groups and societies. I also give talks and presentations at major photographic and trade events, both here in the UK and in the US and Europe.
